HACS Moves Into Home Assistant: The Built-In Marketplace Replaces It in 2026.11

If you run Home Assistant with custom integrations, this one matters. According to the official HACS documentation, starting with Home Assistant 2026.11, the November release, HACS ships inside Home Assistant itself as the Marketplace integration. You’ll find it under Settings > Marketplace, with nothing to download.

Same catalog, new home

The Marketplace is HACS brought into Home Assistant: the same catalog, the same repositories and the same hacs.json files. Development continues in Home Assistant, so the HACS custom integration won’t get new features anymore. The OHF Daily roundup of October 18 notes that the HACS installer now stops at 2026.11 and points users to a new upgrade guide.

What carries over automatically

  • Everything you downloaded with HACS stays installed and keeps getting updates.
  • Custom repositories and update entities carry over with their names, areas and labels. Entity IDs don’t change, so automations and dashboards keep working.
  • Old /hacs bookmarks open the Marketplace.

What changes

  • The Marketplace lives under Settings, not in the sidebar.
  • AppDaemon apps and Python scripts are no longer managed: they keep working but won’t get updates. A repair tells you which ones are affected.
  • Dashboard resources are now served from /local/community/. Old /hacsfiles/ paths still work, but if you declared resources in YAML, a repair will remind you to update them.
  • HACS can’t be installed on 2026.11 or newer: Home Assistant blocks it.

On 2026.10 or older, nothing changes: keep using HACS as usual.

Rocks take

This is good news for anyone who has ever explained HACS to a beginner: one less install step. Before updating to 2026.11, take a backup, list any AppDaemon apps or Python scripts you rely on, and check your YAML dashboard resources. The release isn’t out yet, so details could still change. We’ll test the migration on our own setup as soon as it lands.
